Context & role
Documenting a transformation
I created this project case study for Economides Architects, my grandfather’s Michigan-based practice. With the practice now closed, it remains a record of its approach to architectural rehabilitation.
Focusing on Palmer Park Square, the case study connects the building’s history, the objectives behind its rehabilitation and the completed architecture.
My contribution
I structured and wrote the case study, organising project information and photography to explain the brief, design approach and outcome for a non-specialist audience.
My contribution was editorial. Architectural design and renovation were led by Economides Architects and its project partners.
The case study structure
01 / Context
Establish the significance of the building and its neighbourhood before introducing the intervention.
02 / Design thinking
Connect architectural decisions with their purpose, using selected details and before-and-after imagery to make the thinking accessible.
03 / A wider view
Place the completed building within a broader story of collaboration, preservation and renewal.

Perspective
A personal connection
Growing up around my grandfather’s and father’s architectural plans led me to study Architectural AutoCAD in Chicago. This case study brought that interest into my communications work: making architectural decisions accessible while preserving the character of the practice.
